Two New Projects Seek Environmental Review Near Olympia

Two separate projects near Olympia have entered the state environmental review process this month, with public comment periods now open for both.

Jay Kobza has applied for a Class IV Forest Land Conversion permit at 4810 Sunset Beach Dr NW in Olympia. The project would clear approximately half an acre β€” about 15,000 board feet of timber β€” on a 2. 09-acre parcel to make way for a future single-family home. Thurston County is the lead agency and issued a Determination of Non-Significance on April 17. Public comments are due by April 30.

At 9326 Kimmie St SW in Olympia, Nickel Properties & Investments is seeking a Special Use Permit to add two 30,000-gallon propane storage tanks at an existing Blue Star Gas facility. The site, zoned Light Industrial within the Tumwater Urban Growth Area, currently has an office and shop. The expanded facility would serve residential and commercial propane customers, as well as Autogas fleet fueling operations. Thurston County issued the SEPA consultation notice on April 15, with comments due by May 5.

Residents who wish to comment on either project can do so through the Washington State Ecology SEPA portal before the respective deadlines.
