SAO Updates Finance Resources

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

The State Auditor's Office (SAO) has updated key resources for local government finance staff, including a new guide on county-special purpose district relationships and an updated segregation of duties guide. The new guide clarifies county obligations to special purpose districts regarding services, fees, and warrant payments. The updated segregation guide now includes a chapter on federal awards, with best practices for task assignment in small offices. SAO also introduced the SAO Navigator webpage to help government employees find resources quickly. Local finance officials in Olympia and Thurston County can use these tools to better manage budgets and comply with state requirements. SAO will host annual BARS update trainings in the fall, with resources available on their website.
