Thurston County is reviewing a permit application for a new propane storage facility at 9326 Kimmie St SW, Olympia, according to a state environmental filing issued April 15. The applicant, Nickel Properties & Investments, is proposing two new 30,000-gallon propane storage tanks under the Blue Star Gas project name.
The facility would support residential and commercial propane delivery, as well as Autogas fleet fueling operations. The site already includes an existing office and shop building and is zoned Light Industrial within the Tumwater Urban Growth Area.
Thurston County is leading the environmental review under the State Environmental Policy Act. The filing is listed as a consultation-type review, meaning additional agency coordination is underway. Residents may submit public comments through May 5 by accessing the record at the Washington State Ecology SEPA portal, filing number 202601550.
Separately, Thurston County is also reviewing three other local environmental filings this week: a forest clearing permit for a future home at 4810 Sunset Beach Dr NW, a nine-lot subdivision at 1223 Miller Ave NE in Olympia, and a proposed update to county road construction standards last revised in 2017. Comment deadlines for those filings range from April 28 to May 7.
