Olympia's North Thurston Public Schools (NTPS) has been named a 2025 Board of Distinction by the Washington State School Directors Association. The award recognizes the district's leadership in education.
NTPS serves approximately 15,000 students across 13 elementary schools, four middle schools, and three comprehensive high schools. The district also operates four choice schools, including a virtual school, a performing arts middle school, and a career and technical education-focused high school. Over 1,000 students participate in the Multilingual Learners program, representing more than 50 home languages.
The district has invested in modern facilities through a 2020 voter-approved bond. Remodeling projects include Komachin Middle School, River Ridge High School, and the Raj Manhas Activity Center. NTPS employs 130+ National Board Certified Teachers and offers 100+ dual-credit classes for high school students to earn college credit.
