Nine-Home Subdivision Proposed for Miller Ave NE

The City of Olympia is reviewing a proposal to subdivide a 1. 23-acre parcel at 1223 Miller Ave NE into nine residential lots. The application, filed by Chris Carlson of Hatton Godat Pantier, was issued April 16 under state environmental review as the Kelsie Estates Preliminary Short Plat.

The filing is classified as a Determination of Non-Significance with a Notice of Application, meaning the city has made a preliminary finding that the project is unlikely to cause significant environmental harm. Residents can submit public comments through May 7.

A separate environmental filing in Olympia involves underground storage tank removal at 1221 19th Ave SE. Applicant Jesse Cherry received a Determination of Non-Significance on March 31 for a project that includes tank removal, excavation, and possible soil sampling and remediation. The comment period for that project closes April 23.

Also affecting Thurston County roads, County Engineer Matt Unzelman filed an environmental review for updated Thurston County Road Standards. The update would revise language from the 2017 standards to match current practices. No construction is planned as a direct result β€” the standards govern how future road work is carried out. Comments are due April 30.
