Thurston County Approves Development Projects

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Thurston County and Lacey City have filed multiple development projects under the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) this week, including a residential subdivision and a quarry expansion.

The Thurston County projects include a request to lift a six-year moratorium on a 10.28-acre property at 15146 Vail Rd SE for a single-family home, and a proposal to log 30 acres of land for a gravel mine expansion at Johnson Creek Rd. SE. In Lacey, a mixed-use development at 41st Ave will include 180 residential units across eight buildings, and a new 16,710-square-foot chapel at 4707 Park Center Ave NE is proposed for a Martin Business District parcel.

The Edelweiss Village project in Olympia seeks to subdivide 4.86 acres into 18 lots on a property zoned Low Density. Lacey also filed a non-project action to update its Stormwater Strategic Plan, which will guide the city’s stormwater utility programs and ratepayer information.
