The Olympia School District will hold a board meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, available both in-person and via livestream. The district is currently building its 2026-27 budget under financial pressure from declining enrollment and rising costs.
The district has published budget FAQs, enrollment projections, and staffing allocation documents on its website to help families understand the budget process. Residents are encouraged to submit feedback through the district's community input channels.
The district also announced that the SUN Bucks (Summer EBT) program will return in summer 2026. Eligible children will receive a one-time $120 benefit to purchase groceries during summer months when school meals are unavailable. Last summer, nearly 550,000 children across Washington received the benefit.
Several other updates are available for Olympia families. The 2026-27 school year calendar has been approved by the board. Free sports physicals for students entering grades 7-12 will be offered on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Enrollment is now open for optional elementary programs at Lincoln Elementary and the Olympia Regional Learning Academy Montessori. Transfer requests for the 2026-27 school year are also being accepted.
